hopefully 1 day soon tommy and JY will realize, styx without dennis isn’t styx, i think it’s time for them to bury the hatchet, i think us true styx fans have suffered enough the last 10 years…….just get it done already before it truely is too late!!!
you know for all the bitchin tommy and JY did for some of his songs, i think it’s funny you NEVER hear them bitch about all the money they made off of his songs, come to think of it, the money there still making off all of his music……
they ganged up and assassinated DDY from the group like the deadly viper assassination squad and Dennis is out there somewhere, plotting his revenge
@floydgenesisnut Tommy too!
@NaysPracticestuff you mean wothout Dennis, and I would agree.
@Ksvitak12 The thing is it’s not Styx without him. they where cruel and kicked him out of the band he created. i have seen them once without him and it’s like watching half a concert. He created Styx. Thats why I would rather go see him over them any day.
And Tommy etc., will say that DDY thought he was bigger than the band, just as Neil Schonn will tell you Steve Perry thought he was bigger than Journey. Everybodies got their own take on what happened and why, but really, what does any of that matter? Who’s right? Who’s wrong? Who cares as long as they are back together and making great music.
Haha tommy shaw looks 20 years younger than james young
after that album in 1983,
Dennis De Young was left the band, it’s so sad. year1984.
his first solo single become hits,”dessert moon” and also
“call me”.and alot more songs.
great song
The first song i learned to sing when i was like 6 and the worse part is i still remember it by heart lol
The solo and the ending of the song always sends shivers down my back.
The woman in the picture in the beginning of the video is Suzanne De Young. (Wife of Dennis.)
Why does everyone love Dennis? I’m not saying I hate him or anything, but if you dont like styx anymore because of it just listen to Dennis’s new band. I am getting so sick of people saying that Dennis was the band. To me, the band as a whole is the band.
I see Attica was having a half price off sale on menswear, WTF!
Wow man you pretty much just said my favorite bands.
Journey, styx, boston, bad company, queen, acdc, kiss, all the classic rock bands!
brings back so many memories of the 80’s was life really that good back then or does it always just feel that way?
These guys deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The good old days when the music was the best.
Styx, awesome, timeless…
this is my favorite!
Thanks for posting this — Styx has a unique and unassailable spot in Rock History.
Casual observers equate their tendency for high notes with cotton candy pop. That just ain’t so. Every song and every album (for them, a concept compendium IMHO), was well thought out, well orchestrated and well-executed.
Man, there ain’t nothing and no one in the last 2 DECADES that even comes close — musically nor conceptually!
Say all what u want,,but Styx was the greatest bands of the their era! And once u hear Dennis de young’s voice,, u know its them!! Im not an oldie, but I love their music!!
Yes he avoided drugs. He stated it in many interviews he didn’t do drugs and his wife stated he didn’t do them as well. You saying “Light Up” is about 420 is like saying “Comfortably Numb was about heroin. Roger Waters didn’t do drugs as he saw the damage done to Syd Barrett. However, DDY wasn’t a control freak ala Waters firing people. DDY had to carry the ship when Tommy and JY got heavy into the typical rock star excess (drugs, debauchery and sex).
Dennis avoided drugs? Did he not write”light up”!
