I recently purchased a guitar for me to learn and my children were so intrigued that they wanted to do something while I was playing. I wanted to get an inexpensive guitar that was appropriate for there size since they were 5. It’s the perfect size for them but it does not sound like a guitar at all. It’s more like a Ukulele. It is worth the money and its fun for the kids but do not expect to have the same sounds.

I’m a little confused by some of the other reviews. The guitar I got is terrific for the price. The strings are fine. The neck is almost dead-on straight. Tuners work smoothly and are covered. AND it is solid in-tune all the way up the neck; something I absolutely did not expect. I have played various guitars for 49 years and didn’t expect much for $50. Perhaps the later models are better as Dean figures this thing out or, perhaps, they are not very consistent. Whatever, mine is just great and I look forward to playing it for however long it lasts. I wholeheartedly recommend this little instrument.

I am an experienced guitar and ukulele player. This little guitar is such a great inbetween instrument. It is the same size as a baritone ukulele, and has the steel strings of a guitar, and the same tuning.
However, I did have to do minor maintence to actually be able to get sound that was clear out of it.
First, there was major fret buzz. You have to get a knife, and in the nut and saddle, thicken the wedges wear the strings go in, and make them deeper.
Second, the standard tuning for a guitar is eadgbe. eadgbe on this size instrument will have to much slack with the strings because of the scale size. So there are to instruments that come similar to this. A guitalele made by yamaha(not sold in the U.S) and a requinto which is a mexican instrument that is also tuned to adgcea. ADGCEA would be the same tuning as putting a capo on the 5th fret of a guitar.
So, tune it up to ADGCEA, the sound is brilliant, and so unexpected.

good product, the strings kind of hurt a little the tip of your fingers if you play too long but it’s a great buy and affordable for young kids who just start their classes.

I like it! the finish is glossy like the other expensive guitars, sound is OK for the price and the size! the tuning is OK to play by itself(not in the band)if you know how to tune. Some people made a bad comment before, perhaps they don’t know how to tune it properly) except the thinnest string produce a bit of bender sounds like some fancy effect on electric guitar and I don’t mind. The only thing that diappointed me is when I opened the box I found the thinnest string was broken….not a big deal! I replaced it for 95 cents…overall I am pleased with it and I can take it with me everywhere I go!
